Computation error bloated Sta. Isabel’s net worth, wife says

The wife of SPO3 Ricky Sta. Isabel, the principal suspect in the Jee Ick Joo kidnap-slay case, said an erroneous computation caused her husbands statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) to to reflect a bloated value.

In a news briefing, Jinky Sta. Isabel said the SALN was prepared by one of their children and not by an accountant.

She, nonetheless, said that the assets and liabilities listed in the statement were accurate.

"Mali po yung nag-input kasi anak ko lang po ang gumawa. So wala naman po kaming accountant, yung anak ko lang po. Hindi po niya, nagawa ng mabuti po iyon,"Jinky said in a report on "State of the Nation."

In a Senate hearing, a PNP official said that his SALN showed Sta. Isabel declared a total of P17.3 million in assets.

These include five houses and lots, all in Bagombong, Caloocan, and a four-storey commercial building in Cubao Quezon City.

He also declared four vehicles, a 2014 Toyota Hi-Lux, 2012 Toyota Vios, 2014 Honda tricycle, and 2012 Kawasaki tricycle.

Sta. Isabel also declared liabilities worth P3 million.

His net worth in 2014 was said to have been P20.3 million.

Sta. Isabel said he only earned P8,000 monthly as a police officer. —NB, GMA News
