NLEX vehicle volume expected to increase due to Christmas exodus
The volume of vehicles passing the North Luzon Expressway is expected to increase with the surge of buses going to provinces this Christmas season.
According to NLEX authorities, a 15-percent increase in the daily average volume of 250,000 vehicles is expected on peak hours, GMA News’ Mark Zambrano said in a News To Go report on Friday.
As of Friday morning, traffic flow along NLEX was still light, with only one to two vehicles on queue at toll gates.
However, traffic is expected to grow heavy from Friday afternoon to Saturday morning, Christmas Eve, the report said.
Meanwhile, NLEX authorities have installed additional collection booths in anticipation of the huge volume of vehicles.
Six additional collection booths will be installed at Balintawak Toll Plaza to aid its 16 regular booths.
Collection booths at Bocaue Toll Plaza will also be doubled, the report said.
Moreover, all road repair activities on NLEX have also been suspended from December 16 to January 3. — Erwin Colcol/RSJ, GMA News
