PNP chief Bato warns new batch of SAF troopers of the evils in Bilibid

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa warned Friday morning the new batch of Special Action Force commandos tasked to man the New Bilibid Prison against temptations that would come their way.

Dela Rosa led the turnover ceremony for the new Provisional Batallion of SAF troopers that would guard Bilibid.

He said the NBP is no ordinary prison facility as they "will certainly be faced with the strongest temptations to corrupt you and make you give in to the demands of the prisoners, among them drug lords, murderers, and the most hardened criminals."

"Do not ever allow yourselves to be bribed whatever the circumstances may be. Do not allow yourselves to be involved in illegal activities. Do not ever do anything to destroy the image of PNP," he said.

The PNP chief said he will make sure that those who will be corrupted will be dealt with accordingly.

"Kung mayroon kahit isa man lang sa inyo na lumihis ng landas, ako na mismo ang makakaharap ninyo," he said.

He reminded the SAF troopers that President Rodrigo Duterte and the Filipino people trust them and they should not betray it.

He said as the government's campaign against illegal drugs continue, there are a lot of things that must be done to rid the NBP of illegal drugs and corruption.

"Marami pang dapat gawin dito sa NBP upang tuluyan nang malinis ito illegal drugs at corruption. Marami pa tayong gagawin sa buong bansa upang maresolba na ang problema sa droga," he said.

"Let me assure the national leadership and the Filipino people that your national police force will continue to render its best in serving and protecting the nation," he added.
