PNP starts new count as it implements Oplan Double Barrel Alpha


The Philippine National Police has started a new count as it commenced the implementation of its expanded anti-illegal drug campaign Oplan Double Barrel Alpha.

Based on data from regional offices, 254 operations have been conducted from October 26 to 28.

A total of 11 drug suspects have been killed and 376 have been arrested.

Under Project Tokhang, 125,130 houses have been visited with 1,235 drug suspects who surrendered.

Of the number,  1,124 were users and 111 were pushers.

The expanded anti-illegal drug campaign now includes schools, factories, and the entertainment industry.

PNP spokesperson Senior Supt Dionardo Carlos has yet to comment on the reason for the need to start a new count.

The last consolidated data provided for Oplan Double Barrel was on October 26 with a total of 1,725 drug suspects killed July 1.

A total of 31,629 drug suspects have been arrested in 32,909 operations.

The PNP also visited 2,626,126 houses under Oplan Tokhang which resulted in the surrender of 751,703 drug suspects, of which 697,001 were users and 697,001 were pushers.

Meanwhile, PNP recorded 2,153 cases of deaths under investigation with 3,001 victims from July 1 to October 23.

A total of 613 cases or 22.16 percent of the cases recorded have already been concluded.

Of the number, in 396 cases, suspects have already been arrested while in 217 others, suspects remain at large. —KG, GMA News
