174 PNP personnel test positive for illegal drug use – PNP Crime Lab
A total of 174 Philippine National Police personnel have been tested positive for use of illegal drugs since Jan. 1, 2016, the PNP Criminal Laboratory said Tuesday.
PNP Crime Lab director Chief Supt. Aurelio Trampe said that as part of the internal cleansing of the police organization, they collected urine samples from 159,129 PNP personnel for random drug testing.
“Of this number, 167 uniformed and seven non-uniformed personnel were confirmed to be among those using dangerous drugs particularly methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu,” Trampe said at a press conference.
He said that of those found positve, three challenged the result of the Crime Laboratory but their positive findings were further confirmed by the National Reference Laboratory. — RSJ, GMA News
