PNP regional directors allowed to approve assistance in implementing SC, other court orders
Police regional directors are now authorized to approve requests for police assistance in implementing final decisions or orders of courts, quasi-judicial bodies, and administrative bodies within their jurisdiction.
In a memorandum dated August 16, Philippine National Police chief Dir. Gen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa delegated regional directors "to take appropriate action" on requests in implementing final decisions or orders from the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals, the Court of Tax Appeals, Sandiganbayan, as well as quasi-judicial or administrative bodies.
Under the Revised Police Operational Procedures, the Office of the Chief PNP handles the said requests "regardless of the place where the police assistance shall be rendered."
The PNP chief, as recommended by the director for operations, "may task any operational support unit" to assist in implementing the decision.
However, the same provides that this "may be delegated to the Regional Director upon the discretion of the Chief PNP."
Prior to this, regional directors were already authorized to approve requests to help implement final decisions or orders rendered by regional or municipal trial courts within their territory.
Regional directors may assign the Public Safety Company/Battalion, the provincial, city, or municipal police offices in their jurisdiction to assist here.
Direct filing or request to local police units or operational support units are also referred to their office. — Rose-An Jessica Dioquino/RSJ, GMA News
