Ex-wife’s constant advice to Duterte: Stop the cursing

Elizabeth Zimmerman is happy for her former husband Rodrigo Duterte as he is about to reach the pinnacle of his political career when he takes his oath of office as the country's president on Thursday.

"Thank you for all your support," was Zimmerman's message to Filipinos, who elected Duterte president on May 9.

Zimmerman was interviewed by GMA News' Marisol Abduraman when she and her eldest son Paolo arrived in Manila on Wednesday.

She said people close to the family are helping in putting together the inauguration and its related events.

"So we will just attend it and go back home," Zimmerman said.

Whenever she and Duterte get together, Zimmerman has one constant advice for the president-elect.

"To stop the cursing," Zimmerman said.

Zimmerman's daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, arrived in Manila on Tuesday on a separate flight. —NB/KG, GMA News
