MNLF and MILF to form Moro convention to draft revised BBL
The Moro National Liberation Front and Moro Islamic Liberation Front are ready to join hands to help draft a revised proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law, a report on News To Go on Monday said.
The two organizations said they will form a Moro convention that will assist in drafting a proposed law that will hopefully bring peace to the region.
MNLF Vice Chairman Datu Abul Khayr Alonto said they will name the delegates to the convention after Ramadan.
The MILF was formed after some members broke away from the MNLF in 1977.
However, the two organizations are now coordinating to pursue peace talks for the Bangsamoro government which was promised by President-elect Rodrigo Duterte.
Whatever the outcome will be of the Moro convention will be presented to Duterte, the report said.
The two organizations are also supportive of federalism, which Duterte said will bring peace to Mindanao.
They added this may be done through a Constitutional convention.
On Friday, Duterte met with leaders of the MILF in Davao City.
Incoming presidential legal counsel Atty. Salvador Panelo, however, has declined to give details about the said meeting to media as of posting time. —KG, GMA News
