Joel Villanueva celebrates Senate race win with PNoy
Senator-elect Joel Villanueva celebrated his victory with outgoing President Benigno Aquino III in a thanksgiving party in Makati City, Saturday night.
Villanueva told the outgoing president how grateful he was for being included in the Liberal Party's senatorial lineup for the 2016 senatorial elections.
He said his victory in the Senate race means Filipinos continue to recognize the legacy of Aquino.
He vowed to continue the legacy in the Senate in the next Congress.
Villanueva and 11 other candidates were proclaimed by the Commission on Elections on Friday.
The Liberal Party guest candidate placed second in the Senate race with 18,459,222 votes.
Villanueva was appointed by Aquino as director general of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority in 2010.
He quit the post in October 2015 as he prepared for the Senate race. —ALG, GMA News
