Bongbong Marcos is wealthiest VP bet with a networth of over P200M
Based on the his 2014 Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN), Senator Bongbong Marcos is the richest among the six candidates for vice president, GMA 7 news program "24 Oras" reported on Tuesday.
According to his SALN, Marcos had a networth of P200.598 million. He is followed by Senator Alan Peter Cayetano with P23.315 million, followed by Senator Gringo Honasan with a networth of P21.225 million.
Camarines Sur Leni Robredo is the fourth richest with P8.032 million. Senator Chiz Escudero has a networth of P6.049 million. And Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is the poorest of the six with P5.549 million.
Still based on the 2014 SALN, Marcos was also the VP candidate with the most liabilities at P27.414 million. He is followed by Trillanes with P7.910 million. Robredo came next with P6.9 million. Cayetano is at fourth spot with P5.032 million.
Escudero and Honasan both declared zero liabilities in their 2014 SALN.
Of the six candidates, four of them said they had business interests.
Cayetano is a stockholder of five holding companies—Pateros Dev’t Corp.; Slarep Dev’t Corp.; Murfin Holdings Corp.; Companero Rene Cayetano Foundation, Inc.; and APSC Tapat Dev’t Corp.—and a non-operating publishing company called Lokalbooks Inc.
He is also a member of the non-stock non-profit corporation Cayetano Family Foundation, Inc. and a club shareholder of two companies Celebrity Sports Plaza Inc. and Fuego Development Corp. His wife, Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano, is a stockholder of the real estate company A Land Realty & Dev’t Corp .
Marcos declared the management company Augustus Management, Inc.; two holding companies NIV Holdings, Inc. and Sasivi Holdings, Inc.; and law firm Most Law Firm as his business interests.
Robredo meanwhile has been a Meralco stockholder since 1999.
Escudero listed a law firm called Escudero, Marasigan, Vallente & E.H. Villareal with address in Pasig City, with a 1994 date of acquisition.
Meantime Honasan is the sole VP candidate who did not have a relative working in government.
Marcos has the most relatives in government service, all of them in elected, local positions.
Cayetano has three relatives in elected positions, and one who is working for the office of his sister Senator Pia Cayetano.
