Cayetano vs. Marcos on dynasties is top Twitter moment in VP leg of Pilipinas Debates 2016

The heated exchange between Senator Alan Peter Cayetano and Senator Ferdinand Marcos on checking the domination of political families in the country is the most tweeted moment in the vice presidential leg of the Pilipinas Debates 2016.

This was according to data released by Twitter.

Cayetano questioned Marcos' earlier remark on forgetting a politician's family name and instead focusing on the official's track record in public service.

"Pero yung sinabi po ni Senator Marcos na kalimutan yung pangalan, kalimutan ang history, ito po yung tanong ko. Isipin nyo lang," Cayetano said.

Marcos interrupted Cayetano, saying he didn't say anything about forgetting history.

"Wala naman po akong sinabing kalimutan ang history. Wag ka namang nag-iimbento," Marcos said.

The fellow Nacionalista Party stalwarts spoke simultaneously, each trying to drown out the other's voice.

"Hindi ito martial law na walang rules. May rules po dito," Cayetano said.

Told by the moderator that they should not speak at the same time, Cayetano asked, "Can I have my one minute?"

He then turned to Marcos and said, "Or pati yun nanakawin mo pa rin?"

Marcos, who repeatedly called Cayetano his friend during the debate, closed his eyes and grimaced at the retort.

Cayetano then went on to point out the problem with forgetting the sins of one's predecessors, citing a hypothetical situation in which a grandchild of alleged pork barrel scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles runs for public office decades from now.

He said there was indeed a problem with having political dynasties.
