Ex-Gov. Roy Padilla Jr. detained over malversation conviction

Former Camarines Norte Governor Casimiro “Roy” Padilla Jr. was detained over a malversation of public property conviction which was upheld by the Supreme Court, GMA 7 late night news program “Saksi” reported on Friday.

Padilla, the eldest brother of actor Robin Padilla, was convicted by the Sandiganbayan over a 2001 criminal charge that stemmed from a missing pistol that was issued him.

The former governor said that he was ready to serve his sentence, but insisted that the charges against him were politically motivated. — DVM, GMA News
