I never had a DNA test - Bongbong

Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. denied Monday the supposed DNA result which shows that he and Senator Grace Poe are related.

The document was distributed to some members of the media through mail earlier in the day.

“I’ve been laughing about it all day. It’s a pretty funny joke,” Marcos said in a text message to GMA News Online when sought for comment on the matter.

“I’ve never had a DNA test,” he added.

The one-page paper has a note: “This is Sen Bongbong Marcos’ DNA result. Compare this with that of Sen Grace Poe and you will see that they are related.”

Poe, a foundling who was adopted by the late actor Fernando Poe Jr. and actress Susan Roces, underwent DNA tests to find her biological parents.

There were rumors that Poe is a love child of actress Rosemarie Sonora and the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.

Senators Marcos and Poe have repeatedly laughed off the rumors and even jokingly called each other brother or sister.

On top of the document was a letterhead DNA Solutions Philippines. It states DNA Test Report dated November 12, 2015 for Case Reference Number TO23445, Mr. Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.

“DNA isolation was carried. Genetic characteristics were determined by PowerPlex 21 PCR kit. In parallel, positive and negative controls were performed which gave the expected and correct results," the document further stated.

The document was signed by a certain Julie Ludovico, Forensic Scientist I.

In a phone interview with GMA News Online, Jaime Lazatin, chief executive officer of Infinitech Center, denied that the document came from them.

He said DNA Solutions, which was stated in the letterhead, is the laboratory in Australia which conducts the DNA tests.

“The whole document is fabricated. Hindi ganyan ang resultang inilalabas namin, ‘yung wordings na nakalagay, lahat hindi pareho, ibang-iba sa amin,” he said.

He added that they do not have a staff named, Julie Ludovico.

In a statement, Senator Grace Poe thanked the people who are helping find her biological family. But she underscored that the authenticy of the document should be verified first.

“Ako ay nagpapasalamat sa pagmamabuting loob ng ibang tao sa pagtulong sa aking paghahanap sa mga tunay kong kaanak sa dugo,” she said.

She added: “Bago pa man ako magkomento kung dapat ikonsidera ang paghahambing, alamin din nila mismo kay Senator Marcos ang authenticity ng pribadong bagay na ito,” she added. — BAP, GMA News
