PNoy on Pia Wurtzbach: I'm glad she achieved one of her dreams

President Benigno Aquino III, who was previously rumored to have dated Pia Wurtzbach, on Friday said he’s happy for the new Miss Universe.

"Siyempre, natuwa tayong lahat na nanalo siya," Aquino said in a media briefing. "Iyong point na pinaghirapan naman niya talaga itong pagkapanalo niya."

"Nakikita naman niyo 'yung sacrifice involved for somebody to that level. And I’m really glad that she achieved one of her dreams,” he added.

It took three attempts for Wurtzbach before she was crowned Bb. Pilipinas-Universe.

Aquino, 55 and a bachelor, was linked to Wurtzbach early this year, with one of his closest friends in the Cabinet admitting that the two went out on a group date before the Binibining Pilipinas pageant.

In an interview with New York radio station PLJ FM, Pia admitted that she met Aquino prior to winning the Miss Universe crown, but insisted that it wasn’t a date.

"I met him because I was contributing writer for the lifestyle section of a newspaper in the Philippines, so I met him in a few social occasions sometimes," she said.

Asked whether she would be open to dating Aquino, Pia said: “I think that would be very difficult... you know I haven't even had a full eight-hour sleep. It's been very busy," she said. —Kathrina Charmaine Alvarez/KBK, GMA News
