Groups remember Ninoy Aquino at tarmac where he was killed




Groups on Friday paid tribute to the late Sen. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. at the exact spot where he died 32 years ago.
 
A live report on GMA News TV's News To Go said a Mass was held at the tarmac of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, in front of the marker where Ninoy was shot and killed on Aug. 21, 1983.
 
A program was also held, organized by the Ninoy Aquino Movement, along with the August Twenty One Movement (ATOM) and other organizations.

Wreath-laying
 
A wreath-laying ceremony was led by officials who took part in the 1986 EDSA Revolution, including former Sen. Heherson Alvarez and his wife, Cecille Guidotti-Alvarez, Raul Daza, and former Vice President Teofisto Guingona.
 
Guingona also received the Ninoy Aquino Medal of Valor during the short program.
 
Ninoy's brother, former Sen. Agapito "Butz" Aquino was also a recipient of the award. He passed away on Monday afternoon. 
 
Butz was at the forefront of ATOM following the death of his brother. The said group was a main mover in the 1986 EDSA Revolution.  — Rose-An Jessica Dioquino/RSJ, GMA News
