Arrested 'tour guide' in Cavite, a fugitive from Korea
The Korean national recently arrested by policemen in Cavite for human trafficking is a fugitive from Korea, a GMA News report said Monday.
The report on GMA's Unang Balita said authorities found out that Lee Doyeon is a fugitive from his own country after the Korean embassy sent a letter seeking help for the arrest of the suspect.
Based on the Korean embassy's letter to the Silang police, the suspect's real name is Cheong Seongdae.
Senior Police Officer 1 Rodolfo Eresalde, station commander of the police's detachment in Pasong Langka, Silang, said a representative from the Korean embassy will visit them today.
Eresalde said the Korean suspect is also scheduled for inquest today.
Lee was arrested with ex-cop Ricky Sese by members of the Silang Police Station after allegedly attempting to extort P3 million from three Korean tourists.
Police said Lee is offering cheap tour packages to fellow Koreans.
The suspects' modus operandi is that they would offer minor girls to Korean tourist on their last night of stay in the country.
Two hours after the Korean national and the girl have checked in, Sese and other men would barged into the motel room, acting as policemen, to "rescue" the minor.
The duo was arrested after they recruited Senior Police Officer 1 rodolfo Justo into their group. Justo turned out to be part of an entrapment operation set up against them.
The suspects allegedly asked P3 million from three Korean tourists.
The Korean suspect and Sese are facing extortion and human trafficking charges.
Additional charges of illegal possession of firearms, usurpation of authority and falsification of public documents were filed against Sese. —ALG, GMA News
