PNoy remembers Cory through social media

Exactly six years after her death, President Benigno Aquino III remembered his mother, former President Corazon Aquino.

On his Facebook and Twitter accounts, Aquino posted a photo of her mother with words, "Remembering former President Cory."

Supporters also paid a visit to the former president's tomb at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City, with her grave surrounded with yellow flowers, radio dzBB's Mao dela Cruz tweeted.

Cory, who rose to the presidency after the ouster of Ferdinand Marcos following the People Power Revolution of 1986, died on Aug. 1, 2009 from colon cancer.

Following her death, clamor for then Sen. Benigno III to run for president arouse.

Then senator Mar Roxas, who had announced his presidential bid, said that he was giving way to Aquino who won the 2010 presidential election.

Aquino endorsed Roxas as his preferred presidential candidate for the 2016 polls at the Club Filipino in San Juan on Friday. —Raffy Cabristante/ALG, GMA News
