No basis to request for warrant to enter Manalo compound —QCPD chief
By BEA MONTENEGRO, GMA News
(Updated 10:26 a.m.) The police cannot request a warrant from the courts to enter the Manalo compound in Quezon City because the homeowner himself did not report a crime.
This is according to Police Chief Superintendent Joel Pagdilao, acting district director of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), in an interview with GMA News Online on Friday morning.
“Wala po tayong basis to request a warrant,” Pagdilao said.
Since the crime supposedly happened in a private home, a formal statement from the homeowner is needed before a warrant can be requested.

Pagdilao and fellow QCPD officers went to the Manalo compound on Thursday night but did not find any indication that an abduction had taken place.
They were there outside the house at 11 p.m., Pagdilao said in a television interview.
When Pagdilao found out that there was supposedly no abduction, according to police assessment, he personally went to the compound to talk to the occupants of the house.
They were able to speak to Angel Manalo, brother of Iglesia Ni Cristo Executive Minister Eduardo Manalo, who confirmed that the occupants of the house are safe.
Though the house is part of the Iglesia Ni Cristo compound, Pagdilao said that the people who lived there had control of the house and held the keys to the gates.
When asked about the sign on the window asking for help, Pagdilao said he didn’t believe the claims that a child wrote it.
“Naniniwala ako na sinulat iyan para magbigay ng warning, kaya ina-assess natin at ine-evaluate ang paglabas ng ganung mensahe,” he said.
Earlier, Angel Manalo said that a child who lived in the house with them put up the sign in the window.
“Wala dito. Ang abduction sa labas...May bata (kami) na kasama na nahihirapan...batang kasama na nagbibiro,” said.

Several supporters of Angel and his mother Tenny gathered outside the Manalo compound along Tandang Sora Avenue in Quezon City on Wednesday afternoon.
The group, made up of at most ten persons, said they went there to support "Ka Angel" and "Ka Tenny" after the mother and son appealed for help from church members as they allegedly faced grave danger.
The Iglesia ni Cristo on Thursday expelled Tenny and Angel, and Marco Eraño Villanueva Manalo and Lolita Manalo Hemedez, younger siblings of Eduardo and Angel.
The church's General Evangelist Bienvenido Santiago in a press conference said they were expelled from the church for allegedly sowing disharmony among its members.
Early Friday morning, Angel faced the media gathered at the Manalo compound and called on members of the Iglesia to hold vigil outside their residential compound in Quezon City and join them in defending their church against what he claims are corruption and doctrinal errors by the advisers of his brother. —KG/LBG, GMA News
Cracks in the unity of the Manalos, the clan behind the century-old Iglesia ni Cristo, became public Thursday, when a YouTube video began circulating on social media.
The 1-minute 54-second video shows Angel, asking the public for help, saying his life is in danger. "Nananawagan po kami sa inyo dahil nanganganib po ang aming buhay. Sana'y matulungan niyo po kami."
The second half of the video shows a picture and the voice of Tenny Manalo, widow of Iglesia ni Cristo's late Executive Minister, Eraño Manalo, also known as Ka Erdy. Mrs. Manalo pleaded for help for her children and their friends.
