PNP chief Marquez wants clean police force... and toilets

Newly appointed PNP chief Director General Ricardo Marquez wants a clean police force and with it should be clean toilets in the national headquarters.

In his first flag-raising ceremony, Marquez said both police officers and non-uniformed personnel should contribute in maintaining cleanliness in Camp Crame.

"All of us at the national headquarters, let's help each other. Let's clean our camp. Let’s make sure all comfort rooms are clean," he said.

Marquez also met with the district directors of Metro Manila to discuss the programs he intends to implement during his term.

In his inaugural speech, Marquez called for a review of the PNP’s disciplinary system, saying he is already tired of receiving news about cops' involvement in illegal activities.

"You see in the newspapers, you hear in the news about the involvement of some of our members in illegal activities. It would be a tragedy if we don’t do anything to end this," he said.

Marquez assumed command of the 160,000-strong police force in a turnover ceremony last week.
