Accuser Bondal challenges VP Binay to produce his alleged dummies
Lawyer Renato Bondal, who had filed plunder complaints against Vice President Jejomar Binay before the Ombudsman, on Friday challenged Binay to produce his alleged dummies - among them Gerry Limlingan and Eduviges “Ebeng” Baloloy.
"Sabihan man ni Vice President na wala siyang hidden wealth, eh 'yung hidden na mga tao? Obligasyon ni vice president sa taumbayan, sa buong bayan ng Pilipinas, ilabas niya ang mga tao niya! Sana nga na si Gerry Limlingan na malaking malaking susi sa misteryong ito, sana nga buhay pa," Bondal said in a report on GMA 7's "24 Oras".
Limlingan, said to have worked for the vice president as a financial adviser, along with Baloloy and several other alleged dummies, had been summoned to testify before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee. None of them have appeared.
"Sa mga dami-sami ng accounts na hawak ni Gerry Limlingan, aba'y bilyun-bilyung piso ang pumapasok doon. Si Limlingan ang DNA ni Vice President Binay. 'Pag lumabas ang pangalan ni Gerry Limlingan, sigurado na may pinagkikitaan naman si Vice President Binay diyan," Bondal added.
According to the Court of Appeals decision freezing 242 bank accounts and insurance policies belonging to the vice president, his relatives, and allies, the Anti-Money Laundering Council found that millions of pesos were deposited into Limlingan's bank accounts and held investments from 2007 to 2014.
This despite Limlingan supposedly paid only a salary of P30,000 a month, and only being employed by Binay from 2011 to 2012.
Meanwhile, Binay's personal secretary Ebeng Baloloy, supposedly receiving the salary of a Makati City Hall employee, also had millions allegedly deposited into her accounts from 2007 to 2014.
During the Senate hearings on corruption allegations against the Binay family in August 2014, the accounts connected to Limlingan and Baloloy had significant withdrawals. Their time deposit accounts and other investments were also closed.
Third plunder complaint
Bondal is also gearing up for his third plunder complaint against the vice president. This time, he will be accusing Limlingan of plunder as well.
The upcoming complaint will be over the P1 billion property in Barangay Comembo, Makati. Bondal said that it used to be government property, but now a certain Erlinda Chong owned it.
Chong was another of Binay's dummies, Bondal alleged. Her name surfaced when the Senate investigated the alleged overpriced birthday cakes given Makati's senior citizens. Chong was the alleged supplier of the cakes.
Chong was also part of Meriras Realty and Development Corporation, with both Chong's and the corporation's accounts among those frozen by the CA. — Trisha Macas/DVM, GMA News
