PNoy appoints new DENR assistant secretaries
President Benigno Aquino III has formalized the appointments of two new Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) assistant secretaries.
Aquino's spokesman, Secretary Edwin Lacierda, however, said at a press briefing on Monday that the President has yet to fill out vacancies in the top posts of the Philippine National Police, the Civil Service Commission, and the Commission on Elections.
Last Monday, Aquino signed appointment papers naming DENR officers-in-charge Corazon Davis and Marcial Amaro, Jr. as assistant secretaries.
Davis is the DENR assistant secretary for administration and finance while Amaro is the DENR assistant secretary for field operations.
Amante Caluya Jr. was appointed as the captain of the hydrography branch of the DENR’s National Mapping and Resource Information Authority.
Aside from appointments in the DENR, the President also named Danielle Marie Rieza as acting assistant secretary of the Department of Finance.
Aquino also appointed six new Registers of Deeds II in the Land Registration Authority: Arthur Abamonga, Julie Mae Monique Abela, Casiano Arcillas, Consuelo Filog, Dinna Lao, Maria Elnora Puday, and Roman Jumawan.
The President also installed two new officials in the agriculture department: Josefina Rico as Director II of the National Meat Inspection Service, and Ariel Cayanan as acting Executive Director III of the Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries.
Other new appointees include:
- Fidelis Cañada, Acting Director II of the Office of Civil Defense under the Department of National Defense;
- Roman Jumawan, Director IV of the Department of Transportation and Communications;
- Josie Perez and Estela de Guzman, Deputy National Statisticians of the Philippine Statistics Authority; and
- Raul Fajardo Mercado and Jose Suan, new members of the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority’s board of directors. —NB, GMA News
