Suspected BIFF wearing SAF uniform among dead in AFP offensive
As the Armed Forces of the Philippines continued its all-out offensive against the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters, the Marines attacked what is believed to be BIFF positions in Shariff Aguak in Maguindanao.
Among the bodies recovered in the aftermath of the attacks was one that resembled suspected Singaporean terrorist Muhammad Ali alias Muawiyah, who allegedly conducted bomb-making training in Mindanao.
Muawiyah reported married a Filipino woman.
The military said it would verify whether the casualty was indeed the Singaporean extremist.
Another body was found wearing a Special Action Force uniform, leading authorities to believe that the casualty was among those who engaged the SAF commandos during the Mamasapano incident on Jan. 25.
The troops recovered mortar rounds, grenades, a 50-caliber machine gun, M-14 rifles, magazine clips and a two-way radio. —NB, GMA News
