PNP: 14 stray bullet injuries since Dec. 16
At least 14 injuries caused by stray bullets and 10 arrests due to indiscriminate firing were recorded during the last two weeks leading to the New Year, the Philippine National Police said Thursday.
PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor said these 14 cases were recorded from Dec. 16 to 7:30 a.m. of Jan. 1.
"Since Dec. 16 to 7:30 a.m. of Jan. 1, meron tayong na-record na 14 injured sa stray bullet," he said in an interview on dzBB radio.
He said of the 14, six were from Metro Manila, one from Central Luzon, four from Calabarzon, two from Western Visayas, and one from Central Visayas.
Mayor also said 10 were arrested for illegal discharge of firearms, including three security guards and four police personnel.
But he clarified the police personnel involved were arrested before the New Year revelry.
