SONA 2014: Party-list representatives walk out of PNoy's SONA

Party-list representatives belonging to the Makabayan bloc on Monday walked out of the plenary hall while President Benigno Aquino III was delivering his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) before a joint session of Congress.

Bayan Muna Reps. Neri Colmenares and Carlos Zarate, ACT Teacher Rep. Antonio Tinio, Gabriela Women’s Party Reps. Emmi De Jesus and Luzviminda Ilagan, Kabataan Rep. Terry Ridon, and Anakpawis Rep. Fernando Hicap, all wearing peach, stood up while Aquino was stating the economic gains of his administration.

The seven separately endorsed the impeachment complaints filed against Aquino.

The first complaint was filed by militant group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) and other anti-pork barrel group over the Disbursement Acceleration Program and endorsed by Colmenares, Zarate and Hicap.

Ridon endorsed the second complaint filed by youth groups, also over the DAP.

Tinio and De Jesus, meanwhile, endorsed the third complaint, this time, over the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement forged with the United States. — Amita Legaspi/RSJ, GMA News
