LTFRB reminds jeep drivers: No official matrix, no fare hike
No fare hike for those without a copy of the official matrix.
This was the stern reminder the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board issued Tuesday to jeep drivers in Metro Manila and in Regions 3 and 4.
LTFRB Chairman Winston Ginez also stressed jeep drivers cannot start charging the new fares until Saturday.
"Kailangan pong nakapaskel ang bagong fare matrix sa loob ng jeepney bago sila makakasingil ng dagdag pasahe mula sa June 14, 2014," he said on his Twitter account.
Ginez also tweeted the added fare would not take effect until Saturday.
"Sa June 14, 2014 pa po ang simula ng P.50 na dagdag-pasahe sa mga jeepney sa Metro Manila, Reg. 3 at Reg. 4," he said.
As early as last weekend, jeepney drivers in Metro Manila started posting the new official fare matrices inside their vehicles.
Last May 30, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board approved a 50-centavo increase in minimum jeep fares.
This increases the minimum jeep fare in Metro Manila and Central and Southern Luzon from P8 to P8.50.
Under the order, fares will also be adjusted as follows:
- 50-centavo increase for the first four km, from P8 to P8.50
- 10-centavo increase for succeeding km, from P1.40 to P1.50
