Tacloban airport terminal fee to be hiked in June

Starting June, passengers going through the Daniel Z. Romualdez International Airport in Yolanda-ravaged Tacloban City will have to shell out an additional P25 in terminal fees.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines said this is needed even if the airport is not yet fully operational, radio dzBB reported Thursday.

It quoted the CAAP in Eastern Visayas as saying the airport terminal fee, needed to sustain the facility's operations, will go up to P100 from P75.

Daniel Z. Romualdez International Airport was among the facilities that suffered major damage from super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) last November.

Much of the airport inspection routines are still done manually as there is no electricity for the airport's equipment. — Joel Locsin /LBG, GMA News
