Palace reminds all public officials: We have a no wang-wang policy

Malacañang on Sunday reminded elected and appointed government officials that the “no wang-wang” policy stands, in light of the recent altercation between Makati mayor Jun Jun Binay and the private security of an exclusive subdivision.

Coloma added that the rule should apply to both elected and appointed officials.

Coloma made the comments following the Philippine Daily Inquirer’s report last Thursday that Binay ordered the arrest of three security guards of the posh Dasmarinas village last November 30 after they supposedly prevented his convoy from passing through a restricted gate.

The mayor's sister, Senator Nancy Binay, was also in one of the vehicles, the Inquirer report said.

The report quoted Makati City Police chief Senior Supt. Manuel Lukban as saying that the three security guards were brought to the police headquarters "to verify if the permits of their firearms were in order." — Patricia Denise Chiu/BM, GMA News
