Comelec proclaims 24 more winning party-list groups

(Updated 4:06 p.m.) The Commission on Elections, sitting as the National Board of Canvassers, has proclaimed an additional 24 winning party-list groups Tuesday.

The NBOC also announced the number of votes garnered and seats allotted to each winning group.

During the NBOC session, Elections chair Sixto Brillantes Jr. said they have yet to proclaim the five remaining winning party-list groups because they are still waiting "for some more votes."

"We will proclaim the five in the next few days," he said.

In an interview with reporters, Brillantes said they are still waiting for the result of the special elections to be held in five precincts of Lanao del Norte and one in Sultan Naga Dimaporo Wednesday. He said some 36,000 votes are involved in the special elections.

He added he wanted the proclamation of the party-list groups to be over so they can start with their preparations with the Sangguniang Kabataan and barangay elections.

"Gusto ko matapos na para yung preparations sa barangay elections magsimula na," he said.

Buhay, a pro-life group represented by Mariano Michael Velarde, son of El Shaddai founder Mike Velarde, will have three allotted seats and the rest of the 13 earlier proclaimed will have two seats each.
