High-pressure area across Luzon hints at hotter days

Filipinos can expect the summer heat to intensify in the coming days due to the ridge of a high-pressure area, state weather forecasters said Thursday afternoon.

In its 5 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the high-pressure area, usually associated with hot temperature, is extending across Luzon.

"The whole country will have generally good weather aside from isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly over Eastern Visayas and Mindanao," it said.

Also, it said light to moderate winds from the east to southeast will prevail throughout the country and its coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

PAGASA's extended weather outlook indicated Metro Manila may have temperatures ranging from 24 to 35 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Metro Manila had experienced Wednesday its highest temperature so far this year - 35.2 degrees Celsius. On Thursday, its highest temperature was 34.7 degrees Celsius, recorded at 4:10 p.m. (http://www.pagasa.dost.gov.ph/wb/fcst/pf.pdf)
