(Updated 11:23 a.m.) - The heavy rain that fell on parts of Metro Manila and nearby areas on Wednesday forced the suspension of classes in the following areas and schools:
 
Areas:
 
In Cavite, Governor Jonvic Remulla suspended all classes in all levels. 
 
In Marikina, the city government suspended afternoon classes from preschool to high school for both public and private schools. 
 
Muntinlupa: afternoon classes from the elementary to college levels. 
 
Pasay: private and public schools from the preschool to high school levels. 
 
In Pateros, classes were suspended from preschool to high school for both public and private schools, dzBB's Glen Juego reported. 
 
In Makati, Mayor Jejomar Erwin S. Binay, Jr. suspended afternoon classes from preschool to high school in both public and private schools. 
 
In Parañaque, Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr. suspended classes for all levels, according to a report on dzBB radio. 
 
In Quezon City, Mayor Herbert Bautista suspended classes from preschool to high school for both public and private schools.  In Manila, Mayor Alfredo Lim suspended afternoon classes from preschool to college.  Malabon City suspended classes up to the high school level in public schools. In Mandaluyong and San Juan cities, afternoon classes were also suspended up to the high school levels, dzBB's Glen Juego reported. In Caloocan City, meanwhile, afternoon classes up to the high school levels in public and private schools were suspended. City officials also cited the high tide as a factor. In Valenzuela City, afternoon classes were suspended in at least four public schools due to heavy rain: Pasolo Elementary School, Pio Valenzuela Elementary School, Wawang Pulo Elementary School, and Polo National High School. Meanwhile, the Pasig City government also announced the suspension of afternoon classes in elementary and high school, public and private schools.

Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Sta. Mesa, Manila also suspended afternoon and evening classes for all levels, according to the PUP Twitter account. University of Santo Tomas suspended classes in all levels and office work, reported the school organ The Varsitarian. Adamson University also suspended work and classes in all levels starting 11 a.m. –Carmela G. Lapeña/KG, GMA News
