Acting Pasay mayor tries to barricade city hall vs foe's allies

Wary of a show of “people power" against him, acting Pasay City Mayor Allan Panaligan has barricaded city hall from supporters of suspended Mayor Wenceslao “Peewee" Trinidad. Radio dzBB reported that 6-x-6 trucks from the Air Force were brought in Saturday night at the city hall but were subsequently pulled out by 7 a.m. Sunday. The report came shortly after interior undersecretary Wencelito Andanar confirmed a dismissal order on Trinidad and 11 officials earlier suspended over a garbage deal. Trinidad supported the presidential bid of the late opposition standard bearer Fernando Poe Jr. Last weekend, a show of people power took place in Batangas when governor Armand Sanchez’s supporters rushed to the capitol starting midnight Friday. Sanchez’s supporters had received a tip that their “idol" would be suspended this Monday. The supposed suspension order that triggered the “barricading" of the capitol stemmed from a supposed graft case filed by vice governor Ricardo “Ricky" Recto. Department heads and employees of the provincial capitol also went there to show their support for the governor. The supposed row between the camps of Recto and Sanchez was the second since June last year, when government investigators linked Recto to the bombing of Sanchez’s Hummer vehicle last June 1. Sanchez was injured but his bodyguard and driver were killed. On the other hand, the scare on “midnight suspension" orders by the DILG stemmed from its surprise serving of such an order earlier this month on Cavite Gov. Ireneo “Ayong" Maliksi, over a graft case. - GMAnews.Tv
