PNoy starts off 3rd SONA with litany of ‘nightmares’ from Arroyo admin

President Benigno Aquino III on Monday started his third State of the Nation Address with a litany of supposed  "bangungot" (nightmares) from the administration of his predecessor, former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Aquino said Mrs. Arroyo’s ten-year presidency was no different to the Martial Law years. “Huwag natin kalimutan ang pinag-ugatan ng Batas Militar. Kinakasangkapan ito upang manatili sa kapangyarihan. Noong nagsimula tayo, walang ibang sumalubong kundi bangungot ng nawalang dekada,” he said during his SONA before members of Congress. He said these “nightmares” included the alleged corruption in the North Rail project, limitless bonuses in government-owned and -controlled corporations, and the supposed anomalies in the sale of second-hand choppers to the Philippine National Police (PNP). Aquino also said that the Arroyo administration left only 6.5-percent of the national budget for his government’s perusal in 2010. “Para tayong boksingero na sinabong sa laban na nakagapos na ang kamay at paa, nakapiring ang mata, kakampi pa ng kalaban ang referee at judge,” he said. — LBG, GMA News
