Janelle sues Ramgen’s mom, siblings for release of private video
By ANDREO CALONZO, GMA News
Janelle Manahan, the girlfriend of slain actor Ramgen Revilla, on Tuesday filed a complaint against her boyfriend’s mother, Genelyn Magsaysay, and four siblings for allegedly uploading a video showing her and the slain actor in an intimate moment.
Lawyer Argee Guevarra, Manahan’s counsel, said their camp wants the National Police's Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to investigate Magsaysay and four of her children for alleged violation of the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009.
“We are filing a formal complaint to which we would like to avail of the technical expertise of the PNP-CIDG in the prosecution of those responsible when a video clip of our client and her deceased over was uploaded and broadcast over the internet,” Guevarra said at a press briefing Tuesday.
Also named respondents to the complaint were four of Ramgen's siblings, including Gail Bautista and Ramona “Mara” Bautista.
Magsaysay earlier admitted that she is in possession of Ramgen’s laptop where the video was supposedly retrieved, but denied uploading the video on the Internet. Guevarra, however, said Magsaysay and her children have the capability and the motive to publicly release the intimate video.
“The evidence points to only one group of suspects that have access to the digital video and the motive to share it over the internet to shame our client in the most sordid way in order to shake her resolve in the quest to bring Ramgen Revilla’s killers to justice,” he said.
Ramgen slay
Ramgen was fatally shot and stabbed inside his Parañaque City house on Oct. 28 last year. Janelle was also shot but survived the attack.
Ramgen’s brother, Ramon Joseph or RJ, has been tagged by the police as the primary suspect in the killing and is currently under police custody. Ramona, who was also named as suspect, has left the country.
Magsaysay has repeatedly denied her children’s involvement in the killing of Ramgen, saying that she did not raise her children to hurt each other.
Two months after the shooting incident, an intimate video of Janelle and Ramgen spread on the Internet through social networking sites.
Guevarra, however, said their camp believes the uploading of the video was meant to “harass” Janelle and make her retract her statements linking RJ and Ramona to the crime. — RSJ, GMA News
