Vizconde says he has witnesses vs SC justice

Lauro Vizconde on Wednesday said he has been talking with people who can testify that a Supreme Court justice lobbied for the acquittal of the seven men — including a son of a former senator — previously convicted for the murder of his wife and two daughters in 1991. Vizconde, however, was unsure if the supposed witnesses against Associate Justice Antonio Carpio are willing to come out in public. The Supreme Court on Tuesday junked Vizconde’s motion for reconsideration asking the court to reverse its acquittal of Hubert Webb, son of former senator Freddie Webb, and his six co-accused in the highly celebrated Vizconde massacre case. "Wala kaming pinagsisisihan dahil ang lahat ng sinasabi namin ay pinag-aaralan din namin kahit paano (We have no regrets because we knew what we were saying)," Vizconde said at a press conference Wednesday.

Vizconde said he will obey the Supreme Court’s order for him to explain his allegations against Carpio. The camp of Webb had repeatedly challenged Vizconde to back his allegations against Carpio with sufficient evidence. More witnesses Vizconde said the fact-finding team formed by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) are currently talking to a group of witnesses who will supposedly prove the involvement of Hubert and the six other accused in the massacre. According to Vizconde, the witnesses claimed they played basketball with Hubert on June 31, 1991, the day of the massacre, belying claims that Hubert was out of the country when Estrellia Vizconde and daughters Carmela and Jennifer were killed inside their Parañaque City home. "He played basketball with Hubert during the day the crime was committed. Hubert even boxed his co-player in BF Homes," Vizconde said in the newscast. "I just want to (emphasize) that these were the real people who killed my family," he added. Sorry At the same press conference, former Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption chair Dante Jimenez apologized to the Supreme Court for hurling expletives against the justices who acquitted Webb and company. "Magpasensya na rin po kayo dahil talagang ‘yun po ay abot na rin po ‘yun ng galit. Ako po ay tao lamang, at nakita ko po kasi ang hirap na dinanas ni Ka Lauro Vizconde (I hope you could forgive me because I was just angry that time. I am only human, and I witnessed how Lauro Vizconde suffered through all of this)," a more composed and respectful Jimenez said. The Supreme Court, in junking Vizconde’s motion, asked Jimenez to explain why he should not be cited in contempt for swearing against the justices at a press conference following the acquittal of the seven suspects last December. - KBK, GMANews.TV
