Garci 'amigo' denies involvement in 2004 poll fraud

A former Commission on Elections official who claimed to be a close friend of ex-Comelec commissioner Virgilio Garcillano denied media reports that he knew of alleged election cheating during the 2004 presidential poll. Lawyer Roque Bello admitted he was a good friend and “amigo" of Garcillano who was believed to be the Comelec official who talked with President Arroyo in the controversial “Hello Garci" recordings. Bello said people who are mad or envious of him were behind the fabricated stories. He said politicians sought his assistance to win in past elections but he declined to name the politicians. Newsbreak magazine, in its latest issue, published a story showing pictures of election returns reported altered in Bello’s house. Bello denied the story. -GMANews.TV
