Group seeks P0.50 hike in jeepney minimum fare

MANILA, Philippines - A transport group on Monday filed a petition for a P0.50 increase in the minimum fare of jeepney’s nationwide. The fare hike petition was filed by transport group Alliance of Concerned Transport Organizations (ACTO) following last week’s P1.50 per liter increase in diesel prices. If approved by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), the minimum fare of jeepney’s will be back at P7.50. The LTFRB slashed last February the minimum fare of jeepneys to P7 from P7.50 following a series of oil price rollback. ACTO did not ask a hike to the current rate for succeeding kilometers after the first four, which is P1.40. - GMANews.TV
