Probe on for escape of Korean from detention
MANILA, Philippines - Officials at a detention facility of the Immigration Bureau found themselves in hot water after a Korean fugitive arrested in December 2008 escaped from there last weekend. Radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad reported that immigration commissioner Marcelino Libanan ordered a full probe into the escape of Korean Andrew Choi. The report said Choi escaped Saturday night from the BI detention center in Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City. Choi was wanted in Seoul for embezzlement and fraud, and was arrested in the Philippines in December 2008. He was undergoing deportation proceedings when he escaped.
