San Juan opens COD mannequin show in Greenhills


MANILA, Philippines – Christmas officially started in the City of San Juan with the opening of traditional “Christmas on Display" (COD) at Greenhills shopping complex on Friday. This year’s mannequin display adopts an environmental theme, especially about protecting the planet. It also features the village of Mapuntod, the old name of Greenhills, said GMA News reporter Raffy Tima. Students from daycare centers and street children in San Juan were the special guests at the opening, graced by city mayor JV Ejercito and his family. Tima said that COD in Greenhills is in its sixth year since it moved from its former home for 40 years in Cubao, Quezon City. GMA news 24 Oras on Friday said this year’s COD is different because as the animated mannequin characters have dialogues discussing concerns such as proper garbage disposal and environmental degradation. Aside from the mannequin show, the 300 special guest children were given gifts and the show was ended with fireworks display that was cheered by guest kids. Tima said regular shows will start Saturday at 6 p.m. and until 11 p.m. The show runs for 15 minutes and have 30 minutes intermission. - Fidel Jimenez, GMANews.TV
