Australian consul found dead in Quezon City condo

QUEZON CITY, Philippines – An Australian Embassy consul was found dead inside his house Wednesday afternoon, according to belated police reports from the Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU). The victim, Mark Murphy, 59, reportedlyl died of a heart attack, according to Superintendent Franklin Moises Mabanag, CIDI chief. Murphy's body was found at around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at his home in Tower 2 in Eastwood City, in Barangay Bagumbayan. Mary Christine Chan, landlady of the condominium, went to Murphy's unit to get the Australian's rent payment, according to Mabanag. Despite her repeated calls and knocks on the door, there was no response from the tenant. Suspecting that something bad could have happened, Chan called up the unit owner, Keith Richard, and later Murphy's ex-wife, Marjorie Schultz, to check on the victim. Richard brough a duplicate key to open the door. They saw Murphy's lifeless body. Further investigation revealed several anti-hypertension medicines inside the condominium unit, namely Avapro HCT, Efexor XR, Nexium, and Addos XR. Mabanag said the victim could have suffered a heart attack while sitting alone on the sofa. The consul was last seen alive by a neighbor Sunday morning. - GMANews.TV
