Local authorities raised the first alarm after the water level in the Marikina River reached 15 meters on Saturday evening amid heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).
According to the Marikina Public Information Office, the water level stood at 15.3 meters as of 9 p.m.
The first alarm means residents should prepare for possible evacuation.
Preemptive evacuation will be implemented when the water level reaches 16 meters, triggering the second alarm. When the water level reaches 18 meters, the third alarm will be raised, signaling mandatory evacuation. —VBL, GMA News
