DOJ reports explosion near entrance; compound secure

The Department of Justice (DOJ) said Monday an explosion that was allegedly caused by an improvised explosive device occurred near its entrance on Padre Faura Street, Manila.

According to the department, the explosion took place at approximately 12:17 a.m. Monday.

There were no reported casualties, the DOJ said.

“The situation is currently under control, and the DOJ compound remains secure,” the DOJ said in a statement.

The Justice Department said that the Philippine National Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (PNP-EOD) Unit is conducting a technical examination.

It added that investigation is ongoing to determine the source and circumstances regarding the explosion.

“The DOJ remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of its personnel and the general public, while supporting a comprehensive and impartial investigation,” the DOJ said. — Joahna Lei Casilao/RSJ, GMA News
