QC gov't to implement liquor ban on SONA Day, July 27, 2026

The Quezon City government will implement a liquor ban on Monday, July 27 as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will deliver his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasang Pambansa.

According to Executive Order No. 24 issued by Mayor Joy Belmonte, the liquor ban will begin from 12:01 a.m. until 6 p.m. of July 27.

The Philippine National Police, the City Department of Public Order and Safety, the City Traffic and Transport Department, and City Task Force Disiplina were tasked to assist in the implementation of the order and penalize violators.

The city government earlier announced that classes at all levels in the city, both public and private schools, are suspended on Monday.

Alternative traffic routes will also be in place on Monday due to the expected traffic.

The Quezon City government said that a zipper lane will also be implemented from Elliptical Road/Philcoa up to Sandiganbayan, and another zipper lane from Doña Carmen to IBP Litex, to give way to the vehicles of government officials and guests heading to the Batasang Pambansa Complex. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/KG, GMA News
