BFP: Tondo residential area hit by fire

A fire broke out at a residential area in Gagalingin, Tondo on Tuesday afternoon, prompting firefighting teams from Manila and other cities to respond to the scene.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) already raised the fifth alarm at the affected area in Dagupan Extension, Barangay 163 at 5:29 p.m. The blaze started at 4:01 p.m., or less than hour and a half since the incident started.

In a Facebook update, the BFP Manila said firefighters from the Manila Fire District and various volunteer groups were still working to contain the blaze.

According to a report by Tuesday Niu on Super Radyo dzBB, dwellings in the area were mostly made of light materials, causing the fire to spread rapidly.

Authorities were still determining as of posting time if there are any casualties or injuries. — VDV, GMA News
