MMDA official in viral video retained, to undergo training

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Monday said it has retained Gabriel Go as head of its Special Operations Group-Strike Force (SOG-SF) after its probe into a viral video involving him.
In a statement, the MMDA said Go will undergo a training.
“The MMDA has decided to retain Gabriel Go as head of the agency’s SOG-SF, which is mandated to get rid of obstructions for unimpeded vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the National Capital Region,” the MMDA said.
“Upon the instruction of MMDA Chairman Atty. Don Artes, Go will undergo a five-day training mentorship coaching on traffic management, focusing on leadership, courtesy, and discipline and with special attention on stress and anger management,” it added.
Go’s training will be under the guidance of MMDA Traffic Education Division’s Edison Nebrija.
An administrative complaint was earlier filed against Go for discourtesy toward a police officer.
The MMDA Legal and Legislative Affairs Staff reprimanded Go for “simple discourtesy with stern warning that the commission of the same in the future will be dealt with more severely.”
Police Captain Erik Felipe last week filed a cyber libel complaint against Go who berated him during a clearing operation in Quezon City.
Hours before the filing of the complaint, Go publicly apologized to Felipe.
The MMDA official earlier issued a ticket to Felipe for the motorcycles parked on the sidewalk in front of a police station in Quezon City. Felipe apologized to Go but the latter reportedly did not like the manner it was given.
Go uploaded the video of the incident which became viral online.
“The MMDA constantly reminds its traffic enforcers to exercise maximum tolerance when dealing with unwarranted confrontation with traffic violators, address the matter in a diplomatic manner, and observe the highest degree of professionalism in all official dealings,” the agency said.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA Integrated News
