Expanded number coding suspended Maundy Thursday, Good Friday —MMDA

MMDA said that the expanded number coding suspended Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced the suspension of the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) on Maundy Thursday on April 17 and Good Friday on April 18.

“The Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or the number coding scheme is suspended on April 17 (Maundy Thursday) and April 18 (Good Friday), which are declared holidays,” the MMDA said on Friday.

MMDA chairperson Romando Artes also said that the agency will implement full deployment for the Holy Week with a total of 2,542 field personnel and 468 assets.

“Our field personnel and assets will be positioned on major thoroughfares leading to transport hubs and key areas in the metropolis to manage traffic flow and guide motorists and commuters," he said.

The MMDA’s Communications and Command Center (CCC) in its head office in Pasig City will remain operational 24/7, according to Artes.

A team is tasked to monitor real-time updates through closed-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) on different critical areas across the region.

“No day-off, no absent” policy will be strictly implemented for field traffic personnel, according to the MMDA.

Skeletal forces will be on duty from April 18 to 20 to monitor the Visita Iglesia sites including the “panata” route going to Antipolo and Grotto, the MMDA added. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
