4 container vans allegedly containing smuggled goods seized in NCR, Bulacan

Authorities seized four container vans allegedly containing smuggled goods in warehouses in Parañaque, Valenzuela and Bocaue, Bulacan on Thursday.

In a statement on Thursday, three search warrants were implemented for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

It stemmed from a complaint lodged before the Office of the Special Envoy on Transnational Crime, which was later endorsed to the Philippine National Police - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) for investigation.

The container vans all came from the Port of Manila. These allegedly held misdeclared, undervalued and misclassified goods.

“The misdeclaration of goods not only constitutes a violation of law but also undermines fair trade and economic stability. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and appropriate legal action will be taken against those responsible,” the PNP-CIDG said in a statement. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
