Cop files cyber libel case vs. MMDA official over 'shaming' incident

Police Captain Erik Felipe filed a cyber libel case against Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Special Operations Group - Strike Force head Gabriel Go, who berated him during a clearing operation in Quezon City.

Felipe and Go's encounter was captured in a viral video, uploaded by the MMDA official.

In Glen Juego’s report on Super Radyo DzBB, a vlogger also received the cyber libel charges.

Felipe, along with other QC police district police, took about two hours in the QC prosecutor's office.

In response to Go’s apology, Felipe said he had already forgiven the MMDA official but would still pursue the case since it affected his well-being, as he experienced severe stress when the video went viral on social media.

“It is my personal decision to file a case for posting edited and spliced videos online na medyo nakasira ng ating pagkatao (that somehow damaged my well-being),” Felipe said.

The cop also thanked those who supported him.

Go earlier said he is ready to face the charges that will be filed against him.

Last week, the MMDA official issued a ticket to Felipe for the motorcycles parked on the sidewalk in front of a police station in Quezon City.

Felipe apologized to Go but he reportedly did not like the manner it was delivered. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/LDF, GMA Integrated News
