3 illegal recruiters for PCG enlistment arrested in Manila

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Wednesday said three illegal recruiters were arrested after asking enlistment applicants P350,000 each in exchange for a supposed guaranteed entry to the agency.
In a statement, the PCG said the agency with the help of the police arrested the suspects, one of whom is allegedly a retired Philippine Marine Corps officer.
The suspects were arrested after the Coast Guard Human Resource Management Command (CGHRMC) Counter Intel Operatives received a complaint from two PCG enlistment applicants.
“The applicants reported the suspects following their demand for Php350,000 each in exchange for their assured entry in the PCG,” the CGHRMC Counter Intel Operatives said.
“The three illegal recruiters are under the custody of the PNP-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Regional Field Unit NCR for booking procedures and subsequent filing of criminal charges of two counts of qualified estafa,” the unit added.
PCG commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan instructed all Coast Guard units to strictly monitor and address reports on illegal recruitment across the country
He also reminded aspiring applicants that the recruitment is only done within the PCG premises and that no fees are required for the application.
According to the CGHRMC, the PCG stands firm against illegal recruitment and remains committed to ensuring a fair and transparent enlistment process.
The PCG and CGHRMC official Facebook pages are authorized to disseminate updates on the nationwide recruitment.
