BuCor transfers 300 PDLs from New Bilibid to Iwahig in Palawan

The Bureau of Corrections on Friday transferred another 300 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City to the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm in Palawan.
In a statement, BuCor said this brings the total number of PDLs transferred from NBP to other prison and penal farms to 10,227.
BuCor said the 300 PDLs are from the medium security camp of the NBP.
"They were transferred as part of our effort to decongest NBP and to support the manpower needs of IPPF in its agricultural project," BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. said.
The PDLs were escorted by 100 correction officers with support from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Muntinlupa, the Highway Patrol Group, the Philippine Coast Guard, and the BuCor SWAT.
They will be brought to the Port of Manila to board a vessel that will bring them to Puerto Princesa City in Palawan. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
