NBI nabs suspected thief of vehicle parts

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Friday announced the arrest of an individual for allegedly stealing electrical wires and other components from evidence vehicles under the bureau’s custody.

In a statement, the NBI said the Security Management Division (SMD) arrested the individual at the NBI-Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) Detention Center in Muntinlupa City on March 25.

This was after two persons were seen entering the impounding area and leaving one of the evidence vehicles.

Operatives from the NBI-SMD then approached the two individuals, who immediately fled. Authorities pursued them, leading to the arrest of the subject.

The NBI retrieved a bag containing six electrical wires from the suspect.

Meanwhile, the bureau said the suspect revealed the identity and location of his accomplice.

This led the NBI to conduct a follow up operation, where they seized various tools and stolen car components.

According to Nimfa Ravelo’s report on Super Radyo dzBB, NBI Assistant director for Intelligence Service Noel Bocaling said the arrested individual is a member of a group who has repeatedly stolen from the NBI impounding facility.

Meanwhile, the arrested individual was presented for inquest proceedings before Muntinlupa prosecutors for violation of Article 308 under the Revised Penal Code. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
